With the weather nice today i decided to take the Savage out to the range, I had some H-4198 loaded and a new Vent in, with a different Primer CCI's, and could'nt get it to go bang. I was so upset and put a winchester primer in and the same thing, Just a snap, No bang? What the heck is the problem?

Is the sabot/bullet a tight fit 35lb+ push? Make sure you reseat sabot after every misfire Before you prime and fire again! You might have contaminated the powder or plugged the ventliner with anti-sieze.

I have to second LC. Did your primer fire? If it fired and you have a good dent in the primer (at least .040" deep) it isn't mechanical. If the primer fired and you used a CCI 209 and not a 209M and it was cold it might not have ignited but pushed the sabot a ways, if you did not re-seat the sabot/projectile primers used afterwards might not ignite the charge ether.

If your primers did not go off...would you by chance have an accutrigger model? These triggers are the cause of many stories like yours. I should rephrase that. People not depressing these triggers properly are the cause of many stories like yours.

Daworz, Pull that breech plug and look for excess anti-sieze.You can pull the trigger all day and it will not go bang. You have had that gun long enough to rule out the accu-trigger.I highly doubt it was the primer. And as was mentioned, there is the possibilty of a loose combo, but I am doubting that as well since you have been shooting it awhile.

Did you fire two or three primers before you put the powder and bullet?? This is done to help remove any oil that may contaminate the powder.
