I built my 450 on a 16 LWH 308 action. Bison Gunwerks heavy contour SS barrel. I used a precision barrel nut/lug ,Harrels brake from Luke@Arrowhead. Boyds stock.
No problems, shoots very well.

I built one on a savage short action. I used a 17 inch Green Mountain barrel heavy conture. No muzzle brake. Shoots real well. Built it a couple years ago. If I had it to do over again I would really look hard at the Ruger American. They are light weight and shoot well.

You'll really like the .450 Bushmaster round. I didn't build the one I have, but it'll shoot 1" or so groups to 300yds with the 250gr FTX handloads. Mine is topped with a Leupold VX6 3-18x44.

The bolt face should be the same size as the 7-08. Shouldn't have to do anything to it.

No boltface mods are required...plug & play, a very easy conversion.

ok guys how about using a long action in 270 keep losing out on secound hand short action was thinking of a 270 win I have seen video of a guy in MI that converted a LA Savage to 450BM...I can see that feeding might be a bit finicky, but doable. I would still try & get into a 308 length

I would still try & get into a 308 length cabelas has had 2 good sales in the past 6 months on savages, approximately 200 off after sale price and factory rebate. That would make a good cheap donor action.

You have to just love it, when a buddy has four (4) .450 Bushmasters in the family and doesn't reload. Received a big box in the mail today

The 200gr FTX bullet is to darn short, leaving to much air space. In turn, it causes hang fires. Tomorrow I'll be pulling bullets.....

Encore 50...if your getting hang fires your brass may be getting too short.. remember it headspaces on the case mouth.. Very finicky.. You may want to switch to h110 or w296 for that light of a bullet. If everything else checks out .. 200 gr bullet shouldn't make a difference.. How do your primer strikes look? D

D Hummmm..... sometimes I receive email replies/notifications from this site, other times not? Cases are new once fired and not trimmed. Primer strikes are perfect. I think you're right about a different powder, as with the lil'gun it just shakes around in the case like a 1/2 full salt shaker. I've pulled the bullets already and replaced them with the 250gr. I'll use the 200gr bullets to plink with the muzz. The 250's are exceptionally accurate.
