Savage model 11 short action

Ok guys I got a 308 that I have removed the barrel and got the bolt nose and lukes new plug to install on my back up barrel that is a savage model 1011   anyway that went smooth got the barrel of and put the bolt nose on closed the bolt and proceed to screw in the barrel it touch and i backed off a little maybe 1/16 of a turn finger tighten the nut and dried fire the new toy ,everything went bang or click safety works great but when I put it back in the factory stock nothing happens I relize the barrel is larger in dia. but the trigger assembly fits not bad any ideas .Also can the orginal stock be used if I relieve the places it touchs sort of free floating shall we say . You do need to free float the barrel. Not familiar with the stock
on a factory Mod 11...synthetic? If so, you probably need to get
a different stock, or open yours up for free floating and do some
reinforcement to the forearm area.
