I'm looking for a little more velocity out of my 7MM STW. (24" bbl) I've used mostly H-1000 & RL-25 with the 160 Barnes TSX & it has taken its fair share of Elk. I also have some Retumbo & IMR-7828 Long & SSC. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

All the powders you mentioned are what I'd use. The only other I'd look at is Reloder 33.

Keith, It’s funny you should mention the reloader 33 I just picked some up from my local shop she didn’t carry it and I had her order it I haven’t decided where to start in my stw. I shoot 140 grain Barnes tipped triple shock and the 140 accubonds. With all the hype about the 28 nosler not much testing done with the stw and new powders.

I haven't had any Luck finding RL-16 or RL-33 locally.
I did take advantage of CEBs Black Friday Sale & got some 152 gr Maxiums's to try.

It might be a touch slow but I'd bet 87gn is a good starting point.

I've loaded lots of H1000 and IMR 7828 with the STW. Both are slow burners and 76 gr if 7828 is a preferred load with 160 Accubonds with a 26" barrel usually pushing the 3,200 mark. H1000 has been a preferred powder with 140 ABs at 3,400 with mild pressure. Both loads have been proofed in numerous guns with 1:9.5 twist barels. RL22 can yield great results but too temp sensitive, high pressure, Retumbo is good starting at 84 grains working upward to 86 gr with 160-168 pills. The biggest issue I see with your situation is the 24" barrel with 160s, may be very recoil heavy with big muzzle blast.

I finally had some time to test the reloader 33 started at 90 grains stopped at 93.0 and still had no pressure signs but groups started opening up revisited 92.5 and the chrono showed 3450ish cant remember es off the top of my head and accuracy was sub 1 inch. with a little wind. this was with the 140 nosler AB. Gonna try the hornady and barnes next.

Sorry, just noticed that the gentleman that started the post had the 24" barrel. 3,450 is really good. I used to get 3,483 with the 140 Accubond with a 26" Shilen barrel with 1:11 twist.
