Just got a weatherby vanguard 25-06 real good deal on trade. This thing has a horrible factory trigger it is awful. I always use jewell triggers but I haven't been able to find one for this rifle only timney or rifle basix is all I've found. Are either of these any good or what would you guys recommend this is going to be a hunting rifle I was gonna order 2.5 to 3 pound rifle basix but wanted some input first.

I have Rifle Basix on my older Savage guns and they work great. I have a half dozen Tinley triggers and for a 2.5-3# trigger they are fine triggers. Personally, I see no reason to get a Jewell when setting up a gun with a 2-3 pound trigger. A Timney or Rifle Basix can provide a safe reliable 2.5# trigger for half the price.

Either could be a bit of a "let down" after shooting only Jewells. I have Timneys on Remmy and Savages, but tried a Rifle Basix on a Savage last year. I really like the Timneys a lot better. Perhaps I should have gotten the Sav-1 instead of the Sav-2?

My Vanguard also had a really terrible trigger.Mine was the 2-position safety not the newer 3-position safety. I bought a 2.5 lb. Timney for it and it made a world of difference. The Timney was also a 3-position safety which is a nice feature. If yours is indeed the 2-position safety and you replace it with the Timney which is the 3-position,you may have to open up the area in your stock in front of the trigger. The Timney is a little bit "longer" than the OEM and I had to open my stock up just a tad. It only took a few minutes with a Dremel and your all set. Hope this helps.........

This factory trigger can be adjusted to perform very well.
