If it was well chambered the break in will be minimal. That leade will be fine after a box of ammo. I normally use 3 of the Final Finish TMS rounds then clean and get on with things for 100 rounds since I usually pick up some speed in there plus I like to have 100 fire-formed cases on hand for whatever load I'm going to shoot. I also will start and usually do my load dev during that time and only clean if switching powders or bullets.

Have to agree with Keith- I used to shoot/clean/shoot 10X- but I think the less passes with the cleaning rod on a hand lapped barrel the better. I'm using prefits now that come chambered and I would have to believe they are smooth front to rear-- don't have a bore scope but have some pretty tight groups.

I had my 243 Rem 700 re-barrel with a 28" Brux barrel I just shot it before I gave break in a thought it shoots half inch or less and likes several different bullets but Berger 87 grain bullets really shine with my 1-8 twist

Break-in is all about the chamber job so I don't stress it since I have the work done by top notch dudes. That throat/leade is the first thing to get torched so it cleans up pretty fast. A factory barrel is a whole different deal and things like FF bullets can make a world of difference. I still like TMS bullets for a custom gun. The important thing to realize is you aren't really breaking in a barrel, but a chamber.

I came across Gardner Precision on the 6BR sight and on the recommendation of several members there they gave him very high marks as to his work and turn around time I had my 243 returned in a month and as said it's a real shooter. He has since done my 6.5 Creedmore haven't shot it yet just got the aluminum stock for it
