I was thinking of loading my 45-70 using cast bullets from Mo. Bullet Company. Figure some one has loaded them on the Forum

I have a few 365 gr. RNFP from Matt's bullets, have some loaded with 31.4 gr of H4198. and a few 405 gr. RNFP from Missouri bullet with 34.5 gr H4198. Have not shot the latter yet but the first load shows promise, mild recoil for my grandson. I will get a chance to shoot next week thru the chrony and see what they do.

I have not done anything yet. Been to hot to play with mine. I know i want to keep my loads mild n vel. at around 1150 to 1300 fps. At this time most of my shots will be under 100 yds

Got a chance to shoot the 365 gr. today, 31.4 gr H4198, vel. 1416,1352,1433,1360. About 3" @ 100 yds. Still a little too stout for the grandson to shoot. The 405's were a little better with 34.5 gr. 1493, 1499, 1504, 1510 a little tighter group as well as virtually no residue in the barrel. Could be better with a more solid table to shoot from. Using a H&R Handi rifle 22" barrel, 1 1/2-4 1/2 BSA catseye scope.

Well 3" at hundred is good enuff to kill deer with at that range. Vel. is more than i would want myself. Think i will get to mess around with mine later this month or in Nov. I am shooting up a box of Win. 300 gr to get the brass to reload. I tell you the recoil of those loads is abit stiff for me after my back n shoulder got all busted up some yrs back.
