After lurking on here for a little bit and absorbing info, I decided to take the plunge.
I picked up a Stainless 700ML off Armslist, which I pulled apart and sold everything but the action.
After several emails to Luke, I ended up ordering the Arrowhead bolt conversion, 28" Straight Fluted .452 1/20 twist Brux, smooth swinglock die, and some 270 Emax bullets.
To my surprise, Luke had everything in stock and got it right out to me. I installed the bolt conversion and the barrel the night it came, then decided to drop it into a MDT chassis from another rifle for Missouri's muzzleloader season.
The conditions were pretty nasty(35 degrees, rain, 10-12 mph wind), so it wasn't the best day for shooting groups, but I was very happy with how well it shot. I just picked one load (70 grains H4198, Parker 270 Emax, Federal primer) and ran with it.
After a busy Christmas, I was able to sneak away for a couple of days to do some hunting. This doe walked out at 405 yards. I put a 270 Parker in the boiler room and found her about 25 yards from where she was standing.
I shot another doe the following morning at 85 yards, but didn't get any pictures. It was a bang flop with pretty explosive results. Knowing what would happen at this close of range, I shot her through the lungs and didn't waste any meat.
To say I'm happy with the setup is an understatement. I'm looking forward to getting the McMillan Game Warden. It's a bit hard to explain why my muzzleloader has a magwell...
Thanks to this forum for all the excellent information, and the inspiration to take the plunge.
