So how do you like those two moccasin's ;D Thanks James! I think (James) Volsgo1 is being a bit premature since the rifle is not scheduled for delivery until tomorrow (I took that photo) Hopefully when he sees it in person he will be happy! I might say this.......If you get a stock from Richards microfit and they tell you it just needs a light sanding? ?? You will be in for a disappointment. I wish James had received the stock first and then sent it to me so he could see for himself. I took a ton of pictures to show him all the gouges left by their duplicator and the extreme roughness. Not to mention they do not finish off the forend? They leave a about two inches with the hole for their fixture . I guess so you can shape it anyway you want. Not too bad for someone handy, but for a person not so handy they are in for a major project. I'm not saying the stock itself is so bad, its just that they need an awful lot of hand sanding. Richard

I can verify that about Richard's Microfit stocks (not related to the richard on this site). I have had a number of them but they at times look like they were roughed out with a chain saw. I think a decent stock for the money but they take alot of prep work.

I bought two Richards stocks for Mod 70 Winchester classic rifles with thumbhole stocks last fall and don't feel like messing with them. Will sell them for 1/2 price if anyone is interested. They are not as well inletted or finished as the guys at Richards stocks would have you believe ! They lied to me and told me the stocks were drop In's with no finishing needed. Your stock looks great though, congratulations ! Rich pillar bedding my MLII and did a fantastic job !

Wife says Im premature about everything I tell her maybe but i know what makes me happy. The pictures of Richards finished work make me happy. Im sure the product in hand will be that much better. Richard did send me tons of pics of the before state and he is right he earned his money turning the raw stock into what is pictured above. If only I could have talked him into shooting it and fine tuning. Thanks Richard!!!

volsgo1, you state the stock is left handed. Is it a left handed stock for a right handed action? if that is the case, is the checkpad/ comb on the back side of the stock in the photo at top? Is the stock offset from the centerline of the barrel for a lefty, or just a strait stock? My elder son is a lefty, and I may want to do the same for his MLII.

Yes it is a left handed stock for a right handed action and yes the cheek pad is on the right side of the stock. Here is a picture of the unfinished stock Richard had to deal with but it shows the other side of the stock. Total cost unfinished about 240.00 dollars then you have to add richards fee to that. Very reasonable for what he had to do but Ill let you discuss cost with him.

volsgo1, Even If Richard charged you what you gave for the stock, or whatever he charged to do the work he darn well earned every penny, having been through the same process myself when Richard says " awful lot of sanding" I would reword that to "unbelievable amount of sanding", but the end result is something to be proud of, Im sure you will be all smiles. congrats on a good looking gun, hope it shoots as good as it looks. Good job Richard.......Bill
