Last minute decision to go out this morning after working midnights paid off. Set up on a lil bluff that my buddy Dave picked out last year that gives you a great vantage point over TONS of terrain and endless ability to shoot for distance if desired and the opportunity arises. Long story short, watched this guy come in from a long ways off, the closest he got when I ranged him while trying to get a shot if he would ever stop was 380 yards, but he would never stop and trailed some other bucks up and away from me, finally he stopped and at the last available opportunity to possibly shoot. I ranged him 3 times to be sure and all three times I got 425 yards, standing broadside, I quickly dialed up my scope threw the gun on my shooting stick and propped my elbow on my knee to help steady me some. I didn't dial for the wind so I held mid body to allow for any wind drift, put the cross hairs 3/4 of the way up his body, took a deep breath and touched it off. He made it 20 to 25 yards and game was over. I was shooting my 700ml 40 cal conversion that I call Poly (polygonal twist) with a N110/Varget duplex, wool wad and a Fed 209a primer, 240 CEB. Pretty impressed with this gun and pretty impressed with the 240 CEB. First time pulling the trigger on a deer with a SML and at that distance, I was happy with the results. Thanks to Dave, Steve, Luke, Carlos, Rob and everyone else for all the help thru the years getting these sml's figured out. Special thanks to Cole for suckering me into trying the first polygonal twist SML and giving up his personal barrel for this build and putting it all together perfectly. Turns out it was a good gamble and I think the best 40 cal build on the planet. Thanks bud! 😊

Boy have your standards dropped. All kidding aside, heck of a shot in field conditions, that is a poke across there and you ten ringed him! CEB performed flawlessly by the looks of it, looks like a good bit of blood at the crime scene. Any autopsy pics? Nice looking buck, congrats buddy! Bring the horns down when I get a day off so we can tape him.

I've seen the word 'necropsy' used to differentiate this procedure from people and animals ..... It's these trivial tidbits of info that keep me up at night... LOL

Forgot to ask, what did you gut it with, your teeth? I have knives stashed everywhere so I can not be in the woods without one, had to since you can't go.. hate having that extra weight now.. and worse than that, no one to help drag!

Nice. Nothing wrong with a eight pointer with a nice wide rack.

One heck of a shot and deer, congratulations but I still don't get why you think the subs will shoot edge.

So the original pic is the exit? Nice.
Is that a drop chart on the bottom of your mag well?

So the original pic is the exit? Nice. Is that a drop chart on the bottom of your mag well? Yes that is the exit, he's laying a lil funny in that pic so it makes it look higher than it actually is. Yes that is a drop chart taped to my stock. The area I hunt now can sometimes almost mandate that you have one depending on what spot you sit that day.

NICE!!! Fantastic Shot for Having Sleep Deprivation! Beautiful Symmetrical Rack. Is the barrel .392/.400 or .400/.408?
