Got this guy up high and back at 8:30 this morning on Nantahala Gamelands,, 2.5 hours to get back to the truck,,, left the truck at 5:30am and did some hard climbing. He was walking along behind a doe but his tarsal glands were not dark or smelly, Neck and shoulders were beefed up. 7mm-08 and 120 BT, entered behind one shoulder, came out through the other. He turned away as I shot or I would have missed both shoulders as planned. I'm a tired boy, Deer

Glad you scored. Them hard earned ones are the best! Lol. That is a good load with the 120 BT. I went to that hand load for my buddies dad in an Encore pistol several years ago on your referral and it sure tears them up.

I did not get an exit with this one, Bullet took out an inch of rib on the way in, the tops of both lungs, and pretty much ruined a shoulder on the way out, bone fragments everywhere. jacket and the base of the lead were under the skin on the exit side, he went no more than 30 yards and at impact humped up and staggered off. I usually try for a rib to rib shot and did this time as well but the deer was moving at a fast walk and turned away slightly at as I shot, did not have time to wait as he was going through a small open area
