I had this Encore 25-06 26" blue barrel sitting in the safe for a long time I bought the barrel used well went to the range and was amazed how accurate it was at 100 Yards it printed at 1" The trigger was horrible have to have something done to lightened it up and I feel it may do even better. shooting 52.5 grains of IMR-4831 with a 100 grain Sierra spritzer BT

I had a Winchester years ago shot a big Doe Bang flop 100 grain Speer bullet considerable damage as I recall Plan to use the Encore sometime within the 2 week Maryland season which opens Saturday. I usually donate the deer to food for the hungry If I keep the Deer I will take pictures I tried a lot of loads before I settled for the 52.5 4831 it was the most accurate even with the horrible trigger

I have two Encores in which one came with a perfect trigger and the other came with a trigger like yours. Mike Bellm has a trigger kit which works wonders. It took that bad trigger down to a 1.5#, crisp perfect trigger. You can get different springs for the weight of pull you would prefer.
You're lucky with that barrel. After their fire, I got one in .25-06 and couldn't get better than 4" groups with it. At the time some claimed that T/C cleaned up some of the barrels in the fire and sold them, and that mine probably came out of that group. I contacted their CS, but got no where. The two Encores now have custom barrels on them.
Tar12, the .25-06 is a fantastic combo rifle. Back in my home state of Nebraska, I got tired of the .22-250 bullets being blown all over the place when prairie dog hunting and was looking for a good overall rifle, and decided to go with a Rem700 in .25-06. 75gr bullets "rocked" when used on PD's and I never saw any need to go heavier than 100gr bullets for deer.

I have taken a few North Carolina deer with a Remington .25-06 Sendero . The 26" barrel shot 115 grain Nosler Patitions very well and the Nosler Balistic Tips even better at over 3100 F.P.S. The load was nothing special just using Winchester brass , Winchester Large Rifle Primers , and 55.0 grains of H4831 . A bit warm but safe in my rifle . The Winchester 115 grain Balistic SilverTip factory load also shot very well at 3135 F.P.S. Chris
