Muzzleloader season started on the 5th of November here in Va and this year my 2 niece were going to be hunting muzzleloader season for the first time. I had Cole build me a Encore Pro Hunter with a brake and Boyds stocks for the 16 year old Kayleigh. Then the the 10 year old Emily said she wanted to hunt too . So with the help of my best friend who built my gun and some gun parts from Luke we put together a Savage C.f. with a Pacnor barrel . Both are shooting 55 gns of H4198 and a 200gn sst with a light blue sabot. Well Friday afternoon Emily and me were hunting a cut corn field out a tower stand when a 4pt stepped out at a 123 yards and started walking straight at us . She got her gun up and got on him but he kept coming straight at us . She breathe so hard I had to keep telling her take a deep breath. She kept asking me can I shoot and kept telling her wait till he turns broadside and stops . Final at 103 yards he did and she was waiting for it . She put a perfect shot right in the left front shoulder he jump straight up and ran about 40 yards and dropped in a pile. Needless to say her old sister wasn't all that happy with being out done by her little sister. So Saturday afternoon Kayleigh , me and a friend of mine tried another spot on a cut bean field. We got on stand around 3 that afternoon at 415 a doe stepped out and started walking down the wood line towards her she got on it and took the shot at 110 yards and it ran off into the woods. I waited for few minutes and texted her to see what she got . She pretty sure she made good hit so I told her to keep hunting and we would look for it after dark . At dark I went to get the truck and my buddywent to help Kayleigh look for deer . Before I could to the field they were in I got a text saying brown is down. Another perfect shot right in the left front shoulder. For anyone that has never experienced a kids first deer its one of the most amazing things I've ever experienced since I've been hunting. I've killed a lot of deer and none of them are as important as that little4pt and a doe . I'm very proud of what they've done . I would post their pictures but I can't figure out how. Mark.
