How are you with tools? They are easy to build. The hardest part of building one is removing the old factory 700 ML barrel....seriously...

If you don't have the tools already and only plan on doing one build it will be worth your $$ to have Luke do your barreled action and ensure your first one is trouble free. You can do the stock work and save time waiting as well as sharpening your smithing skills. If you're gonna go mad like Earnhardt, you better get the tools.

I have never worked on a Remington, do you normally need heat to remove the factory barrel?

Nope, a good barrel vise and an action wrench have been all that is needed in my experience. Maybe a cheater bar on the action wrench or an occasional wack from a baseball bat on the wrench broke it free when sheer weight on the bar did not.

Thanks all I have the tools and I am going to have a go at it myself A center fire Savage is arguably one of the easiest to put together. Luke sells a real easy bolt nose that goes to the existing bolt. If I can install it anyone can... A vice and some other tools if you're careful can tighten a prefit Brux onto the action.
