I was excited walking out of my gunshop this morning...I rushed home and started to break this new rifle down and ran into a snag. I couldnt figure out how to get the action out of the stock.... This was my first Savage American Classic....with the trigger guard bolt release...after racking my pea sized brain for a eternity I discovered the rear action screw location...it was tucked away UNDER the bolt release!!! I am glad I finally made the connection... Felt like such a dumb arse...My Warne Maxima bases and rings arrived yesterday. I will be putting my trusty Zeiss Conquest 3.5x10x44 on this rig.I have .5 grn charge weights of Performance powder from 40.5 to 45.0 rolled up that will be pushing the 80 grn GMX. Going to be spending several hours at the range....

Details. I am not sure what caliber this is, I would venture perhaps a .243 but saw other postings about a .308 etc. Details and photos. I also saw a recent posting of yours about 2AM, you should get some sleep unless you are out fishing then.

It is indeed a .243. The 308 is another project. I was just rolling out to go to work at 2am....

Nice looking rifle. I am considering a Lady Hunter in .243 for my daughter.

Nice looking rifle. I am considering a Lady Hunter in .243 for my daughter. I think that would be a excellent choice for her Jim. If it will shoot the 80 grn GMX and it should as all 3 of my .243s like it. Its a mild shooter. Its a mild shooter with the 95s and 100s
