Those are some very nice 'cats ! I can just see those fillets all coated and sizzling in the oil ! One of the best part of hunting and fishing is the great eating when it's over . Chris

It is a lot of fun....you never know if you have a 3lber or 35lber on.When you roll up to set and the tip of the bank pole is being held under water you know you have a goodun!

Cool! I like night fishing. But last time I have been working a lot and fall asleep while fishing! It's terrible cause I can't relax and can't catch smth. So I decided to buy a pillow. I't amazing! It's very comfortable and I can sleep while fishing. You also can read backpacking pillow reviews to know more. Also I bought tackle boxes for a long time fishing. If you prefer to outdoor for a long time read tackle boxes reviews and choose the one.

Nighttime fishing can be a pain in the ass at times. It got way easier for me once I packed a night lure with me. It's like a whole new game.

Here in eastern VA the rivers are tidal and run from salt at the Chesapeake Bay to fresh 60 miles upriver like at Fredericksburg (Rappahannock river) or DC (Potomac River) or Richmond (James River). These rivers are loaded with catfish! Lots guys use trotlines, jug lines and set poles. My favorite is bowfishing. Sometimes it's great, best nite last year got over 70 cats, mixed blue and channel, biggest was 23 and on down to 2 lb. sometimes no cats just carp and gar. there is a good size commercial fishery for cats with gillnets and pots. I have a friend that has 100+ pots out and only fishes 15 to 25 a day as the buyer limits how many lbs of different sizes he will take. I have helped him run pots and we have caught as many as 2200 lbs from 25 pots. Back in the 1970s the game and fish commission stocked the channel and blue cats and they are not native here. They devastated the herring and shad runs and are now an invasive species with no limit on take. 10

My son went to florida last year and caught some salt water catfish....looked and tasted like fresh water channel catfish...the locals considered them trash fish and gave him a hard time for catching and cleaning them...he brought home 25-30 lbs of fillets...

Chris That's a bummer you had to miss the trip! Sounds like your son had a productive time at the Embarrass River though, especially considering he didn't fish until later in the morning.
