Commercially made targets are heavy, expensive and/or wear out rather rapidly for use with 300-400fps arrows. There are a few ideas on other sites for home made targets which may or may not be good.
Has anyone here made their own? If so, how well do they hold up?

The best commercial I've found: Spyderweb - Fieldpoint, 18:1 - broadhead. Very long life each. Home made - ??. Tightly packed rags have been mentioned often.

Big green target, I have had mine for two years and will make another year easy. I have found with archery targets is take them out of garage and shoot and put away. Keeping them dry is key for me. Bass pro has big green on sale every year for around 70-80bucks. I even take it in the back of truck to release xbow before coming home.

I have a new 400 fps Excalibur Bulldog 400.
First target I used was my old Morrell bag target with a Block target behind it (just in case).
Buried about every 5th bolt in the Morrell bag.
Then, got a Morrell 400 fps crossbow target.
Buried the first bolt in it and sent it back, and was sent a replacement (haven't tried yet).
In the interim I bought a 18XL Spyderweb target.
It's great! Worth the extra money.
Have pounded it from 15 yds without issue.
