Just returned from an adventure hunt for Muskox at Ulukhaktok NWT located on Victoria Island, before I embarked on a 400 mile journey riding in a komotek sled. I stopped by the school and suprised them with enough school supplies to last over a year, they were very very happy with my gesture, it was worth the price of admission to see all the smiles and happiness. Temps were still a mild -20 degrees below zero on the Beaufort Sea ice. I harvested him with a Sav/Brux I built for the hunt, shooting 10/55 N110&H4198 pushing a 300 gr. Match Hunter, tagged him at 150 yards running with a double lung pass thru, he traveled 20 yards layed down and went to sleep. On the way off the Island I escorted a beautiful white huskie back to Yellowknife NWT for Kevin Devoe, a Royal Mounted Canadian Police Captin. It was another awesome experience with great people.

Great job all around to be sure. How are Muskox scored for the record books? On the load were you able to pre-test it in those temps for ignition, I would have been a bit nervous edge.

Wow... Jeff, looks like a great hunt! Way to stick with it. I bet a lot of people would have folded after how poorly the first trip went.

I left it loaded up there for two days and it shot before the hunt, then did it again on the hunt. It crossed my mind I mat have to use an iron sight 303 British the guide had!

Awesome hunt Jeff! Do you eat any of the muskox or is that a meal left for the locals?

Way too cold for me. Awesome animal though and I know you had a grand adventure and saw some neat territory. Glad it went well for you and the rifle/bullet worked in those temps.
