Any one tried this new powder? they say it's incensative to temperature change?

They look on the slow side for .45
The fastest one 4166 is near IMR 4064 so may be better for the subs.

That's the claim for the Hodgdon Extreme powders as well, of which H4198 is one. We know that not to be the case though depending on load values and ignition systems.

The way I understand it the big break thru in powders is how the deterrent is applied, that is why the new stuff is all slow powders. All the powders are made from pretty much the same nitrocellulose, they add deterrent to slow the burn rate. Instead of coating the powder granules with deterrent the new thing is to mix it into the propellant before being extruded. That way the flame front does not have to burn thru the coating first so you get better (or maybe more predictable) ignition.
