Has anybody restocked a savage 220 with a Boyd's and if so did it shoot better?

On another site, ShotgunWorld as I recall, a jcchartboy did a nice conversion of a stock. It was under slug guns I believe

I put a Boyds on my 220. I installed pillars and bedded the recoil lug. Initially my plan was to just install the stock. The pillars and bedding were practice for my SML. It did tighten up my group to consistent sub moa at 100yds. It was originally around a 1.5" gun. Hope this helps.

I just got mine finished up yesterday. I pillar bedded it ( my first time doing that) and did a full length bed on the action and about an inch or so forward of the recoil lug. I'll try to post up a picture later. Haven't shot it yet but maybe next weekend

Here is the one I just finished up two weeks ago. It is pillar bedded and the barrel floated. Shoots the 3 rem accutips pretty Dan good.

Were you able to use the factory trigger guard?

Were you able to use the factory trigger guard? Yes all the bottom metal worked fine with the Boyd's.

Just curious what kind of groups it shoots? I committed to having a custom built last year and I should have it soon!

Just curious what kind of groups it shoots? I committed to having a custom built last year and I should have it soon! With the 3 inch accutips it was around 1.5 inches or so at 100. Nothing else I have shot is worth and flip accuracy wise. Tried the Barnes and the SSTs and neither is worth looking at anymore.

Well shot the plain Jane federal blue box lead sabots Saturday and they are actually as good as the Remington accu tips. Plus they are half the price of the accutips. May need to head back the store where I bought them ams but what they have left.
