Just picked up a savage ml II and will have it cerrakoted next week. Also have a Boyd's prairie hunter on the way for it. I have glass bedded these stocks( and other guns for that matter) before, but am thinking about pillar bedding this one. If I pillar bed it, do I need to glass bed as well or will the pillars be all I need it? Or do I even need to worry about pillar bedding it and just glad bed it? It will be a hunting gun and I don't plan to shoot over 300 or so with it( most shots will be inside 100 actually) and it is a stock 50 with a .030 bushing savage plug installed.

If I take the time to bed I use pillars and epoxy but you can do just epoxy as well.

I have generally done both. Just feel it makes a more stable platform.

For a wood stock I would pillar and bed the stock. wood over time will crush were the bolt go pillars will stop this.
