IIRC you can not send it back to Leupold and anywhere you send it your going to have to pay. Leupold will send you to a place called Iron Sights but from what I heard they do pretty shoddy work if they do any at all. ABO is another but their quality of work is also questionable. But they are the ones that supposedly ended up with Redfields parts. L&K has done some decent work, a little mom&pop shop in MO www.lkscoperepair.com/There is a guy over on the hide that also does repairs, tokitooth or something like that. All I have seen is his refinish work. The original "Accurange" scopes that were used on the M40s are in demand. Guys will buy the black civilian version and have them re-anodized green like the military model. The Marines went to USOs on the M40A1 IIRC.

Contacted Redfield by e-mail they said no, but that they would allow 30% toward a new Redfield or Leupold scope doesn't sound too bad but they go by their list prices so may be better just going to one of the discount houses and will probably be about the same? There use to be a Japanese company that I sent a old Tasco back too they did a good job but can't find the address I'll try a google search Thanks

Sounds like a erector spring which would be a simple repair but still would probly run at least $75 once you added shipping. A new $200 scope would probly outperform it. Better glass and coatings nowadays.
Still there are guys out there that like the "retro" look. Hi-lux is reproducing the Weaver M73 for the 1903A4s. I've had the honor of looking thru a vintage M73 and I would rather use ironsights.

Only paid $80 for the scope. Buy cheap that what you get, you would think at my age I have learned. Penny wise Penny foolish. DUH
