I have a problem with my BAR 30.06 made in 1987. It seems to have a weak ejection in that the spent casings barely make it out of the gun if the don't hang out the side of it. The bolt is coming far enough back to pick up the next round but 1 out of 3 usually hang up in the way I mention earlier. The things I have done are below:
1. Cleaned gas piston and gas block. 2. Cleaned gas port in barrel with torch cleaner. 3. Cleaned action bars and receiver. 4. Cleaned bolt and inspected for broken part. 5. Cleaned chamber and it seems to be perfect.
I have noticed that on my other BAR's the spent casing has a flat side on its neck where I assume the touches the side of the chamber as it ejects but the one that is jamming is perfect round. I feel the problem is in the bolt but wanted some extra input from more knowledgeable guys..

A friend that I hunt with in the Tarboro area had similar problems with his .308 Win. BAR . He finally had to send it back to Browning . He had the issue fixed but lost all confidence with the gun . He now shoots a T/C bolt .308 Win. I saw a .270 Win BAR that was a real shooter... 1" at 100 yards with factory ammo . Chris

Fellas I will keep you posted but I think the problem is a weak ejector spring or worn extractor.

Fellas I think I have found the problem(s). It did have a weak ejector spring but the main problem was that the front ring screw(weaver-style)where it attaches to the base was actually hitting the shell as it ejected. I took the rings off and it ejected perfectly by hand. I will shoot it soon and let you know the results.

Glad you found the problem. That would not be a good situation in the field.
