Hello all,
New here to the forum. Quite honestly, I wasn't sure of where to go with a question like this but I'll give it a shot.
I have a Savage 10 ML2 bolt from a rifle that was discarded as a total lost. My question is, can a Savage 10 or Savage 11 action be modified to accept the Savage muzzleloader bolt? I am trying to determine if the bolt is usable to convert a regular Savage 110 to a muzzleloader. Any information you can provide will be appreciated.
Best Regards

Welcome floridahunter22, Do you still have the action or barreled action? It's hard to imagine the action being totaled lost unless it was blown up or in a lake/canal for a period of time, then the bolt would be trash too. Don't know about fitting bolt into another action. 10 ga

I think building a rifle around a bolt may not be the easiest thing even if it is the same diameter which I am not sure of. The ML-II bolt head has no lugs so you would certainly need to drill and tap the action for the alignment screw.
If you are building from the ground up with a Savage action that already has a bolt then I would think that you just need to pick the appropriate barrel and BP that uses a primer module.
rossman40 may know if the bolt would actually fit, BUT the bolt may be worth something to someone with a ML-II and that might subsidize the barrel/BP acquisition.

If you have a savage cf action already I believe grabbing a 209 bolt head and barrel would be the easiest way to go about it.

There would be no advantage to put a 10ML-II bolt into a CF. You could do it, you would have to put a rear baffle on the 10ML-II bolt to put it into a CF action. The action screw hole is there you just have to use 10ML-II screw for bolt retention.
But still no advantage over using a 10ML-II bolt in a CF action. You can't even dodge the 4473 doing it.
