I really like my Vortex 6.5x20, but don't have that many shots on it and haven't played with tracking at all. It's more clear than a Ziess I have, and about the same as a very exceptional 4200. If you're not expecting the glass of a Sworovski, you should be pleased.
I got Burris Signature 30mm rings for mine. They are a LOT more heavy duty than those they make for the one inch tubes.

I read a lot of reviews on this scope and about the only recurring negative I can find is not enough eye relief at higher magnifications. I'm waiting anxiously for your review.

I would have to agree with that. Pretty much my only complaint would be the eye relief past about 15X.

The fact I do my target shooting off the sled, getting my eye close is not a problem..........the sled/gun combo only recoils one to one and a half inches. Richard

Richard Shoot it a few times off a regular rest of you would, I am thinking about one for hunting and I'm interested in how much of an issue the eye relief will be.

I have the viper hs 4-16x44 and to me eye relief is okay at higher magnification however the one Richard got might be more of an issue due to it going to 20 power. IMHO 16 power would be my max for a hunting scope. Really anything past 12 power is overkill for a hunting scope unless your shooting a centerfire that can shoot well past 600 yards. Just my 2 cents worth.

I'd rather have the 4-16x44 viper, but it seems to be $160-$180 more.

Well, Midway came thru as promised.........The Vortex scope arrived today and is now mounted on the Rem/Brux. For anyone who has not done a scope switch this way: I happen to have a Hy-score shooting/gun repair fixture but any good solid rest could work. What I do is clamp the rest to the bench and strap in the gun. I line the crosshairs of the existing scope up a target down range in my basement plus using a level on top of scope to make sure it is square. With the gun/rest secured and pointing at the target, I then remove the scope. The replacement scope is then set in place (both scopes have their own rings) and leveled along with tightening. I can now move my turrets to adjust the crosshair to where the other scope was. With this method I can be right on (within an inch) of where it was with the take off scope. Bore sighting can get you relatively close not like this. Richard print screen windows

Chad.........looks wise? It looks great. The proof will be in the pudding! Hopefully it will hold up and make the trip to Kentucky......if not, its a simple switch to just clamp on the MK IV or the Burris. Both are sighted in for the rifle. Richard

I don't think that is going to happen anytime soon! Do the steel plate pads help the Benchrest shooters with accuracy? seems like it would be brutal if shot off anything but a leadsled. My buddy has that scope and he really likes lt.

I use an aluminum one on my 16.5 lb. 600 yard rifle simply for looks and with the 6mmbrx, there is little perceived recoil.......so to speak. The reason it is on the ML'er? I do not hunt with this gun. It is only shot off the lead sled for target work ............but the main reason is to get my eye closer to the scope. With the rifle sitting in the sled, I have trouble getting close enough for proper eye relief. I have the scope moved as far as possible rearward.......both in the rings and the last notch on the mount. So the thin aluminum butt plate allows me to get just a tad closer and yet still offers some protection to the butt if set on the floor. Richard
