Currently I'm using a S&W .40 Shield for concealed carry. I actually like it but, I can't hit crap with it. I sent it back to S&W and they said, they installed a lower front sight, as it was shooting low. Personally I can't recognize anything different. At 20 to 25' its still shooting a foot or more low. Now it may be me but, after shooting the Shield a few times last night, I pulled out the Buckmark and put 10 rounds in a 2" group.
That said........... anyone have any experience with either the Walther PPS or the Springfield XDS ?

It may be very possible that the sights are off and I do not know your experience with pistols. However you may be suffering from something else.
My wife has a Ruger LCR in .357. We only shoot .38's out of it. At 7-10 yds she always hits WAY low on a large silouette. I take the gun and it shoots right where I aim. This is a double action only hammerless revolver. The trigger pull is long and by the time she gets to the end of it, the pressure she is putting on the trigger has caused her to bring the muzzle down considerable, hitting very low.
Knowing that the gun does shoot, and knowing she has no problems with the other pistols (Ruger GP100 and Ruger Mark II and Ruger SR9) we worked on her form and stance.
By focusing on keeping her wrists very tight, arms fully extended, aggressive forward stance with legs locked and elbows locked, she can now shoot this gun better. Still, when she forgets, all of a sudden she's gut shooting the target again. Then she remembers and things improve again.
I am the furthest thing from a firearms instructor and there are many variable here. However, little guns with a very long trigger pull are not easy to hit with when you don't do everything right. The shield should have a much shorter pull and this may or may not be the problem.
Good luck

Can't say its not something I'm doing wrong but, if I can't shoot it and hit a target, I can't protect myself if ever placed in that unfortunate situation. I've worked on my stance and form, but just can't shoot the darn thing. I've heard of others having issues with Shields shooting low also.

I would say with that level of experience, you or your form is probably not the problem.

Have couple of your buddies shoot it and see if it does the same. I think that will give you a decent baseline to evaluate if it's you or the pistol.

Something has to be wrong with your particular gun. I carry a Shield 40 and it hits where I aim. I practice a lot with a 6" pie rack and have no problem knocking them down 7-25yds...I owned a XDS 45 before I bought the Shield. It was a reliable and accurate gun also... I personally like the Shield a little better. Just like the way it feels.A guy has to have confidence in his carry gun. Zen

I had the opportunity today to have all three on the table.
I like the grip of the Shield the best. The Springfield XDS didn't do anything for me. The Walther PPS I kept picking back up.
I traveled back to the local guy I deal with and had him shoot my Shield. When he finished he said, "Ain't nothing wrong with this!"
Well I have no confidence in the Shield, which will go up for sale tonight and had my local guy order me the Walther PPS in 9mm.
If this doesn't work, I'll have to throw rocks.

It's strange how that works sometime. One works for you and one doesn't.I've got a MP 9c that I've never been able to shoot the way I'd like. I put a Apex trigger kit in it which helped some but it's still the worst shooter that I have.As a result it sits in the nightstand or in my pickup doghouse most of the time. I've never shot a Walther PPS but have heard good things about them. The XDS was a good shooter like the Shield...I also carry a SW 637 some of the time and a Keltec 380 that goes in my front pocket occasionally...Good luck with your new Walther. Zen

Mine shoots to POA at 21'but right out of the box was off on windage. The other two I have shot were fine too. Before you ditch it, measure sight height, do the math and see if you can get a proper sight. Or if you watched your guy shoot it and hit fine then rework your fundamentals.

do you have good ear protection? is the Shield throwing empties in your face? what is your group size, slowfire, at say, 15 yds, with this and other pistols? 22's don't count, cause there's no recoil at all and much less blast. Nearly always, you never have to fire, and often, misses change a lot of minds, REALLY fast! :-) the range, for civilians, is almost always 10 ft and a LOT of missing of the chest happens at that and closer range, when the defender is dodging blows or bullets. No matter who it is, or what load or gun is being used.

To answer one poster...... I always wear hearing protection, always have. It was a requirement of my dad over 55 years ago. Work caused me problems with hearing over the years, causing a hearing aid requirement today. Never thought a thing about work........
The Shield was terrible................. FOR ME. I just couldn't get it with that pistol.
UPDATE TODAY:
Picked up the Walther PPS 9mm today, brought it home, stapled up a target and measured off............ 25'. (Twenty five feet)
I had the two clips loaded with different ammo. 5 rounds of Blazer 115gr FMJ in one. The other I put 6 rounds of Sig V-Crown 124gr JHP bullets.
First rounds out of the pistol:
