45gr Varget and 120gr Nosler BT has been a real hammer in a TC Encore pistol for my hunting bud. Probably killed 50+ deer from point blank to near 300yd in last 15 yrs.

Depends on what manual you are using. Wide array of data from one to the next. Nosler is usually conservative but accurate for me. Of course watching for pressure signs and using a chronograph to track loads are the safest way to progress. God luck.

pretty big difference between hornady and sierra haven't tried nosler i did notice cabelas had a pretty good assortment of nosler . how do they compare to hornady ? They don't, Nosler bullets across the entire line are 2nd to none, in specific caliber combos Hornady make excellent bullets i.e. XTP Handgun, BTSP Interlock..... but for across the board accuracy and terminal performance Nosler is IT, IMHO. Now you said GMX earlier, if monolithics are your desire then Barnes TSX/TTSX is still THE bullet. That said the 1st load I test in any 7-08 is with Barnes 120gr TSX with 41 grains of RL 15 (per Barnes Manual), this bullet has impressive terminal performance, behaves much bigger than any 120grainer ought-ta. In addition to watching for normal pressure signs you can take velocity up 2900fps, so in some guns I end up "overbook" at like 42grs. I don't see any big changes to this load with different primers, have tested with Rem 9 1/2, CCI 200, WLR and Fed 210. Velocity changes with primer approx 25-35 fps on average, adjust load back to 2900 with any of the primers and accuracy stays basically the same.

Ill grab some for sure ive been loading 4064 and varget , which i have a good supply , i like the recoil of the 120 also Both the 120 and 140 grain "Ballistic Tip Hunting" bullet is easily one of the most accurate bullets on the planet. If a gun won't shoot the NBT Hunting bullet it prolly won't shoot any bullet... LOL..... easily more accurate than GMX........ equal accuracy with Barnes TSX, but TSX requires more load tuning to best accuracy. They both deliver excellent terminal performance in the use velocity range that you are getting with 7-08. Just keep in mind that in the 120gr the bullet can be volatile on close shots and keep shot placement on medium game in the boiler room (stay off shoulder). My general rule of thumb is pick bullet based on MV in the .277 and .284 guns. MV less than 3000fps the NBT Hunting is a great bullet. MV more than 3000fps the Accubond is my/the bullet of choice. You mentioned Varget, with varget my most accurate load for 120gr bullets was at 42 grains. I did however get "best" accuracy with IMR 4350 at 46 grains and load density is approx 95%. But still found with either one best accuracy came at 2900 fps multiple guns tested. But if want a monolithic capable of "texas heart or any shot angles" Barnes is it for 120 grain bullets, just a lil more work to get best accuracy as I am sure you experienced with GMX's as well.
