I have a C Sharps long range sporting rifle in 45-70. It looks the Boss without the engraving. I've only shot black powder out of it but have been thinking of trying to reload some rounds with Blackhorn 209.

Howdy Hawghunter, I also have a C Sharps. In fact I have two of them. Great rifles. As far as artificial black powder is concerned I would stick with Holy Black only. I tried Pyrodex several years ago and was never able to get it to shoot consistently. The rounds I shoot now 45-120 and 45-100 Paper patched and have had very good luck with them. I think that paper patching is the way to go, even though it's time consuming it will pay off. When I lived in Oregon I would shoot almost every weekend, but since I retired I don't get to shoot as often. If I can help with you with your reloading let me know

i have a stevens 44 and 1/2, 45/70. i paper patch the bullets and use black horn powder. my barrel is also free bored(throated) for about a 1/2 inch to .459. this combo allows it to shoot with out wipeing between shots and is very very accurate.
