after 14 days of hard core bowhunting southern indiana rut and on stand 125 hours it was time to kick back and hunt shooting shack over large soybean field after extreme cold and rut bucks were ready to feed. 11-22-14 at 5:10pm mature doe stepped out at 310 yds with mature main frame 10 pt buck in tow. as they feed across field i ranged buck at 275 and set up for shot dialed up scope 4.25 moa and ranged again now 267 yds  settled cross hair on front of shoulder as buck was quartering to me and squeezed trigger after loud crack buck was still standing in my crosshairs but after few seconds he toppled over without a qwizzer took it like a man. upon recovery buck was a main frame ten but a bonus stickers and kickers ending with 15 scorable points. bullet had entered dead on and took out shoulder and 3 ribs on entrance and cleaned out boiler room then took out last 2 ribs and bullet lodged up under hide.  knight custom mountaineer with brux barrel and hankins muzzlebreak 102gr by weight blackhorn , 060 wad, 327 mh ,and federal209a. bullet impact speed appx 1820fps and 2400ftlbs energy.bullet weight after recovery268gr

Dandy buck, congrats.
I'm really surprised at the 327, to me that seems like a lot of expansion and weight loss for such a low impact velocity (maybe not, maybe it's just me). It Def did the job, but what would that bullet have looked like and what would have been the result if it impacted exactly the same at 2600-2800fps? Something for everyone to consider when taking aim.

I thought the same. Bullet was messed up. But bullet smashed thru heaviest part of shoulder bone and total of 5 ribs being quartering shot. Smashed alot of bone on a very heavy boned mature deer. But he was quickly dispatched.

Yeah, no discredit to the shot or the deer at all. I was just surprised the bullet expanded so much at an estimated 1800fps'ish. Makes me rethink taking a shoulder shot with a 275 MH leaving the barrel near 2700.. it was actually educating and useful information imo.

good buck Jeff, congratulations on a great shot. I am not surprised on the bullet performance given hitting that much bone. I would be pleased with the bullet....

There is nothing wrong with that bullet, the Performance or the shot. It is all text book. The point was, what would the result have been for others shooting the same parker bullet or even a lighter parker bullets at 2600-2800fps and hit bone like that. 2nd point, it was a great post for learning, to each his own but seeing this I'll stay away from shoulder shots with a 275 MH at 2700.....
