Ill say.....Ive never encountered a deer of this size before. Not even so much as a close shot.....maybe looking through bino's and not being able to realize how big one is from a distance, but otherwise nothing close! Today, weather was supposed to be poor.....low baro readings, indicating poor deer activity. Well, I am sure glad I went out! This Bruiser was hanging with a doe who was bedded. I grunted him in from about 90 yards away.....he snuck in behind me, and busted me! He was about 30 yards away when I stood up and noticed him on my left. He ran off into the distance, and I was just disgusted with myself. I KNEW the bucks will always sneak around the back side when you grunt them in......and I lost sight of him and blew it! About ten minutes later, I am standing at this same tree when I notice something white......HE'S BACK with that doe AGAIN!! He somehow snuck back in to her without me seeing him. So again I start grunting to get him to come across the property line.....and this time I watched for him. Finally, he presented him self at about 55 yards......and I let the 275MH do its magic. Needless to say, he never took a step! This is by far the biggest buck Ive shot....and maybe the biggest I ever will! I am so thankful for the opportunity, and feel very blessed to have had this chance, and had a second chance to capitalize on it. I am going to have him scored, but my taxidermist says he'll gross 170's....23" inside spread.

Nice deer, it pays to be persistent. I have found the bucks really receptive to grunting unless they have a lot of hunting pressure. Congrats, you will always remember that hunt.

Big old nasty guy, you know he had a few tricks up his sleeve. Way to outsmart him and make the hunt a success!

Great job!! It really pays to pay attention to the downwind when calling, invariably that's where any animal that's called in will show up. What a handsome animal and a great shot.
