Guy.... How fast are going to shoot those CEB's? Zen I see 45 Omega is shooting them 2700fps... With the BC on them the'll make a good bullet. Zen, I plan on starting at around 2700fps and working up from there looking for the sweet spot. I'd be willing to go up to, or near 3000fps, if there are no signs of problems. But at 2700, they will do just fine for everything I need for where I hunt. Steve has proven they are DEADLY bullets at 2700, so I'm comfortable at that speed if that's as high as I can go, but ya gotta try to push it faster just to see......right? lol I am also going to try the 195 Barnes and see how they shoot for me.

That B&C stock is a bit on the heavy side, I've used several on builds. Not for stalking&walking but put a bipod on it and you got a great sniping platform. I have one customer that has dropped deer out to 400yds with a .45 set up just about the same. He uses round hay bales as his blind.
If you think it is a brute, we had Meyers .375 here also Saturday and it looks like it's pumped up big brother.

I have a PacNor .400-.408 and I use the deadeye/SW load with a fiber wad. The 200 SSTs are slightly more accurate but I think the bullets are just slightly bigger. As indicated they need to be knurled in our size barrels. I will be following your findings with interest.

Great looking rig and some good shooting. Glad to see you got it together in time for the season. My 45's shoot good but I love my .392/.400. You will have some fun with this build. What's the shortie your building?

What's the shortie your building? It's going to be on a stainless rem 700ml action, boyds tacticool stock, SS Pacnor .392/.400 (1-16" twist) 21"-22" finished length, timney trigger, dnz mount, Savage .030 bushing plug, Weaver Classic Extreme 2.5-10x56 illuminated german reticle. It's being built for the youngest daughter and should be done pretty soon.

That sounds like a great setup. She should love it. I have been shooting a reduced load for my 9 yr old James. The 200sst clocks at 2350 and will shoot sub .300 all day long. I will be waiting for your results with the short barrel. If it works good I may cut some off our barrel.

That's about the load/speed I have been considering for the daughter in her gun for this season, I was thinking recoil would be light and would still knock em dead to 200 yards which will be her shooting limit. That is pending some range time and she can prove she's worthy of shooting that distance repeatedly...She's excited and so am I...Thanks for the compliments and I'll try to keep you posted with both guns progress. Next time out I'm gonna step mine up some with the deadeye/SW load and see what it does..

Made a quick trip out to shoot the 392 again and to try to get my bow dialed in as well. Conditions were: WINDY! but I learned some more about this new gun. Just had time to try some different loads for 2 and 3 shot groups to see what was what. This gun seems promising. (with certain loads)These were shot at 105 yards.

og- looks like it likes everything! good shooting! it didnt care for the 12/64 load with SST'S nor did it like 11/64 with a barnes and no wad... I was surprised at the 4759/4350, it shoulda got a 1 holer but I was fighting the wind. it really likes 10/60 and 10/65, 110/varget and the sst with a wool wad. time to fire up some ceb's and see how they do. So far im happy and its def gonna be a deer killer.

I also use a .36 wool wad with approx. 5-10 lbs of seating force, very light...tighter= accuracy suffers for both bullets but anyway have fun...looks like a shooter to me!

Ohioguy, That is an impressive build Any idea what the pressure is? Mike Thanks Mike, I do not know what the pressures are. I am sticking with tried and proven loads to be safe. They seem safe in my gun, I have seen no signs of pressure problems thus far, maybe I could get Myers to run me some quick load numbers then we would know.

Ohiodude, do you have a chronograph? Quick loads is a little of a balancing act with the SML's. Usually have to have a real world speed to compare to the quickload estimation. If you don't have one maybe you can just send me the rifle!

I do not have one yet.....I could get some speeds when I can get to the range with Dave when I get a chance.. I cant decide which chrono to buy or I'd have one already... I'll send it out to ya soon as I get a chance.

I got the rcbs one for Christmas and it works pretty good. It's shaped like a loaded cartridge and doubles as a rocket ship for playtime with my daughter.

I ran out of daylight and premeasured charges trying to shoot in 3 guns, so I settled on this load for hunting, since it's what I had and it shot okay. SavPac .392/.400, 240 CEB, 12/61, N110/Varget, Wool Wad, Fed 209A primer, sized loose so they can be shoved down easily with one hand. This was 5 back to back shots with no cool down time between shots, target was 100 yards. I would have liked to played with a few more charges with the CEB's, just didn't have them with me, so this will have to do and I think it will be okay for deer hunting. EDIT: Just like before, with back to back shooting, they pretty much climb upwards with each shot. Sorry for not marking them, shot 1 was the lowest shot 5 was the highest, you can pretty much follow them up from shot to shot. Temp was in the low 30's with a pretty stiff wind.
