Youpe50, do you think thik is is Barnes selling them as a precursor of discontinuing the boat tail design in favor of the new for 09 flat base TMZs and Spitfires? Or do you know for a fact that barnes plans on discontinuing production of boat tailed ML bullets? I hope so as I have heard from people I trust that shot Barnes flat based TMZs out of 10MLs with quite good results. And you most likely could use a different sabot with a flat based TMZ there by increasing your odds the TMZ/Spitfires will shoot well out of 10MLs out to 300yds.

Art,
More than anything I think it is a change to a new sabot. My ML and I really like these old yellow ones. I haven't tried the new easy load blue style. Probably won't either. Many others have had accuracy issues with the boatail TMZ and supplied sabot. I bought some on the cheap a year or two ago, I didn't know if they would shoot for me. That is the perplexing thing about the Savage, just because it works for me doesn't mean it will shoot for you.
Most ML bullets start falling pretty fast after 250 yards. A person needs to know the range. The nice thing about 300 yard shots and you probably have time to laser range the shot. The hard thing is doping the wind drift.
