In thread about the best deal you've ever got on a SML, someone mentioned about all the nice bucks people had in their avatars. Rather than comment on that thread and hi-jack it I thought I'd start a new thread over here for people to post their best buck or bull they've ever taken. Here is mine, shot him last year in Ohio. It is my first buck that I have taken with my SML. He came by my treestand the first morning of gun season in bow range- 20 yards. He was about 30 yards away when I got a good shot at him. The shot completely took out the off shoulder leaving a hole I could stick my fist in. Rem-pac that Luke put together for me, 275 gr MH and 68 gr H4198. Please post your best up here- As was mentioned, looks like some dandys in some folks avatars.

My avitar buck is one of my best. It's a big 8 pt with 4 inch kicker off his left G2. I have 2 other bucks that score about the same. Another 8 pt with 2 kickers on his right G2 and 1 kicker on his left G2. The last one is another 8 pt with a big secondary "tusk" growing out of the left brow tin base. All three score from 142 - 144 and all main frame 8's with some oddities. 1 Shotgun (Avitar 2009), 1 ML (2001 knight Disc) and another (2010) with the bow shot straight down under my stand.
My best trophy is a woodchuck mounted on a log that I shot when I was 6 yrs old out of the back of my Dad's friends willy's jeep with my 1st gun. An old beat up winchester 22 pump. It's still at his house and starting to fall apart.
Hoping to see and hear more big buck pictures/stories

"starting to fall apart" If you had not taken it to the taxidermist think how it would look now. I can see how that woodchuck can be as memorable as your deer.

Come on now.... Where do you live cabelas? This is probably my best from last year. Watched him chasing does for almost a week before I played him right during bow. He would have never made it to next year in my area it's about as good as you can hope for. I've seen much larger in muskingum county but trying to connect with one of them is tricky. Every year one of us sees one and every year he sees us.

If that is a Van Wert county deer it is a nice one. Difficult for them to get old there.

That " Van Wert " buck is a very nice looking buck . Some places you better take 'em when you can or there is a very good chance you will never see him again . " Slugs and idiots started flying " I like that !

Not my best scoring trophy, but IMO the coolest deer I've ever taken.. Taken in 2004, Ohio gun season, Ithaca DSIII.

My avatar buck is one of my hardest earned as hunting public land is tough in this part of NC (although I have seen two that were around 140" but didn't have a shot at). My favorite is either my first buck (over my work bench) from the Texas Panhandle: Or possibly my first pig which bottomed out a 300lbs scale with ease that I shot with a bow when I was kid about 40min from Mexico in deep South Texas: One of my most memorable was a squirrel that I shot from about 60ft with a recurve when I was living on the James River in Charleston, SC. He was sitting in the crook of a branch with his tail over his back and head and I made as perfect a shot as I have ever made nearly straight vertical on a partially exposed target.

Allen county Ohio you have semi trucks to contend with along with slug hunters who just drive and kill every thing that comes out of the woods, nothing gets old. I have I-75 and US 30 within a mile but last year was able to get a nice 12pt. (125-130inches) on last day of gun season. It was driven over by some neighbors and I just happened to be in the right spot. I wonder if they ever found out where it went. lol! 225 gr. Black belt 45cal with 52gr. Imr4198 at 126yards.

Nice job, I love to steal the thunder from the guys out truck hunting. Just sit and be patient and someone will get the deer running. Nothing better than when they see you the next day and are like, "did you shoot that deer that ran back there? We been chasing him for 5 miles then you go and shoot him?" They act like we were the bad guys.
Glad to hear they rounded up the bandits in your area the other night!
