I picked up my muzzleloader last night from my local FFL dealer that Jeff Hankins made for me. This rifle is everything and more that I expected it to be in appearance. The fit of the action and barrel to the stock looks great, very even spacing all around, everything well centered. Finish on the metaI looks awesome! will try to figure out photobucket and get some pictures uploaded to this board. I hope to pull the trigger on it Sunday afternoon if the weather permits.
Jeff included the test target as well. 3 shots at 100yd .269" center to center. I am very impressed with the attention to detail that Jeff used on this build.
I received both a full form and smooth insert with the sizing die, a custom made powder funnel, one extra breach plug, a decapping stand with punch, thread protector when muzzle brake not installed, 25 primer modules and all of this was in a range box supplied by Jeff as well.
The paint job on the stock was awesome. It exceeded my expectations. Olive drab with spider webbing splatter and low gloss clear over that. Absolutely awesome!!! I'll get pictures uploaded soon.
In my opinion I got more than I expected. Jeff you did a great job!!!! Thanks again. See you guys at the shoot! Kyle

Cool! Looking forward to seeing some pictures. Snap a couple of the die too while you're at it.

My Ball Savage was bead blasted, after a nine day hunt, it had a number of rub marks on it. I sent it back to Savage to have the bead blasting removed. If you plan to hunt hard with it you may well re-think that finish, unless Jeff does a better job blasting Sound like a great rifle, best of luck with it. Marty

Marty Will you better explain why you don't like bead blasted finishes. It is a smooth matt grey finish. Cleans easy and does not pick up dirt or grime.. Maybe your rifle was SAND BLASTED which is a disaster on a rifle. The blasting media I use is micro fine glass beads that actually polished the metal instead of pitting it. Jeff.

Marty In 1996 I had a custom rifle built by a local gunsmith and competitive shooter. I had that rifle bead blasted as well. Sure it has some blemishes on the finish after years of hunting, it gives the gun character. It doesn't bother me, I'd never sell it, the deer don't seem to mind either. Years down the road I could easily get the gun re-blasted or Cerakoted. How the gun performs and holds up is really what matters, but she sure looks good right now. Kind of reminds me about when I first started dating the wife back in 1998. That's for another board though. Thanks for the input. Kyle

Hey guys I could use some advice as how to post pictures here. I see that some people post links to photos, I'd rather post the photo and not a link to it. Thanks, Kyle

Thanks, Kyle Do you have a photobucket account with your pics loaded on there? If so, the way I do it. I use two windows, one opened to Dougs and the other opened to Photobucket Click on the pic in your library you want to post. Will take you to another screen with the pic enlarged. Then I right click on the pic. I then select "view image info" from the drop down box that appears. Another smaller box will appear on the screen with the image info. I right click the highlighted line in the smaller window and click copy. Then go to the thread window and click on the "insert image" icon and paste the info in the "image URL" box that appears. Your image should show up in your posting.

As I stated this is a Ball Savage, after the hunt it looked like it had a disease. So I had it cured. It is a great shooter rifle. I like handsame rifles, not ones with patches of the finish gone, but thats just me, thats why some folks make 57 different flavors.

Can't believe there are no pics of the rifle discussed in this thread. No offense, but, what's the point without pics It's like going to a wedding with zero pictures taken !!! Or, being stood up on a date by a pretty girl.

I should have taken some pics of the guns while at the shoot but I was so wrapped up watching, shooting, retrieving targets and measuring groups that I didn't. trust me its a good looking rig with a Nightforce ACTACR sitting on top, it shoots too..
you will be able to see it when Jeff and Mindy get their video done of the shoot, it will be in the video along with others.

Thanks Hillbill! I'm certain the gun can shoot better than I can. I hope to have enough practice in by next year to make a better showing. I had a great time at the shoot. Kyle

Wow, that is a state-of-the-art cutting edge machine. Oops, I already complimented your gun, but now that I see it I have to confirm the praise.

First off let me say 7,000 was way over priced, second off theirs people that want a Cadillac, some just want a raged out ford.. Some fish from Jon boats and others from a bass boat.. If a man works hard for his money others should not criticize him for spending if for things he wants... As the same goes for a man that has nothing should not be ridiculed for what he don't have. [/quote Well said! jeff~

Excellent pictures Great Looking, great shooting by a great maker, who could ask for anything more. Each man has his budget, so a gent who spends 250.000 on a diamond ring, does not think he paid too much, I was in the diamond business watched folks spend huge sums, but they could afford it. 7000 for a gem of a rifle is only too much to someing who can't affort it or can affort but doesn't want to spend the money. A frend of mine had a bowie knife made by D E Henry, gold and engraving by Lytton Mc Kenzie paid 11000 for it I told him he was nuts, both gents passed away,12 years after it sold at auction for 32000 Did he pay to much? Use your new rifle with great luck and joy....I am both envious and jealous Marty
