The bear season is past the half way mark and I still have yet to get out! I hope to change that NOW. The forecast looks very good all week 60*/70* for highs and just at freezing at nights with slight winds. 'TILL THE WEEKEND!!! Rain/snow and more wind, but we ARE going to go anyway , got to! The bears really don't care but it's a heck of an adventure to just GET to where the bears live. We've been blasting a lot of Prairie dogs in the mud but I have just about used all the allotted varmint shells for the year, Dang bullet shortage! I do have a ton of 45/70's loaded a wail back so I can shoot bear till the cows come home. On a different note I'm building a 6mm Remington as a deer gun and that is progressing slowly. I have a barrel a Timmy trigger and a commercial mauser action and jeweled bolt. It's only a 1 in 10 twist on the barrel so the big 105 gr bullets are out. In our other 243's we only use 75 gr for varmints and 85 spears for deer anyway, and I've killed ,DRT, BIG mule deer out to 300 yards right along. It's a HEAVY varmint barrel so I'm going to do a LIGHT composite stack to try and cut some heft. Well anyway back to the bear thing. We may do an over nighter . We will go to the same area that we ran across several very nice bear last year during wolf season. The wolf season is closed so it's only bear I guess. Ever set up a wall tent in 3 feet of slush in a rain storm ? NOW WERE TALKEN!!!!! Anyone been out ?

Best of luck slugger, I've never been..but I've dealt with the tent/mother nature issue (not 3 feet tho). Hope it turns out well for you.
