I was lucky enough to get a Chief's Spin jag to test that Doug Edwards sent me, first thing I noticed is both the spin jag and cleaning retriever are very well made and easy to use. I have a Gunn Spin jag to com pair it to, on Chief's there in a nylon bushing on his spin jag, this helps to center your spin jag in the barrel and protects it, also the end of the spin jag is clearances more to help with the loading of the Parker plastic tip bullets. In the combo packet there is two plastic bushings that you can put on the your ram rod to help center your ram rod and to help prevent damage to the inside of the muzzle, a good idea. I was impressed with the cleaning retriever as how good it worked, this unit had a brass blade between two nylon bushings, when you push and pull the retriever in the barrel the brass blade cleans the groves, this does a much better job than a cleaning jag with a cloth patch. I now only use a Savage but if I shot any kind of black power I would use this cleaning retriever to get out the crud ring out down by the breach plug area of the barrel, it sure would help out at the range with this. I do not know what this combo unit sells for but I would buy it, I feel that it would be well worth the money, Don

Well here we go. When I first started watching the video I was amased at how much I didnt know...The video was the best instructional video I have ever watched. My kit didnt contain the Chief's Pro Clean But it is on my list to get. I use a Knight range rod for my cleaning at the range . So the rotation is nothing new to me..However the spin adaptor sure doe's a fine job with my sst loading jag. I onlu wish it could be a little shorter..It is just a mind thing for me. I kept thinking my rod was hanging out...For once I have recieved a free sample that will do exactly what they claim it will..and at a reasonable price. I intend to order the pro clean or pick it up at Cabela's next time I am there(next month) It really is the "Real Deal".. But what I was most impressed with is the video... There is so much knowledge there . I have an Encore and have no trouble getting it to shoot moa..But after watching that video I am sure I can get it shooting 1/2moa..And what I learned about SW v the SST ...I hav e several boxe's of SW's that I am going to sell..For what I paid for them. I got a good deal on them. Anyway I am babbling.. Doug..Thank You for sharing this with us... Drop

The one I received is the one dealing with black powder accuracy. He shows what is capable with proper technique and cleaning procedure's. Also shows what works and what doesn't. He does not bash any body's product..Just doesn't keep them there till the end of the show. No need to. It is a very worthwhile video. Now If he would do the same thing with a Savage MLII ... I would DEFINITELY buy that one also. Drop

Couldn't find where to post my findings under new thread, So I will give you my evaluation as of this date. Went to the range temp was 55 Degrees, Partly cloudy. Well first time seating a bullet and sabot was a breeze the Jag spun flawlessly, Unlike the precision jag I got used some time ago. The nylon guide makes it even more flawless. Usuing the Brass rods I bought at Wally World (Walmart) for about $12 and change. Got 2 of them and mounted the cleaning jag as well as the seating jag. These rods are very well built and are very strong, even though it is in three pieces I can truthfully say it is a very well built item well worth the cost (Jag). Well shot about 30 times with 777 100 Grain, and Pecisiion 400 grain bullets and MMP Sabots Sabots One thing I notice with the cleaning Jag it eliminates that terrible crud ring associated with 777, it brakes it up. I clean after every shot as I have always done before testing the Spin Jag. One thing I couldn't figure out was trying to use the Cleaning jag with a patch, there isn't enough room for the patch and the Jag? So all I did was use a range rod that I have to use a patch, no big deal. I can not give enough praise to how the setup works. Another finding will follow this one as soon as I get my BH-209, and that should eliminate that terrible crud ring.associated with 777. One more thing you have to turn the cleaning jag so it lines up with the rifleing no big deal either. All this is mainly in a target sighting in session. In A Hunting situation I would only use the Spin Jag, as many of you know a second shot can be made with out the use of the cleaning Jag. One more thing I used the new sabotless hornady bullets, some what of a problem starting them with a Knight, but no problem with the Encore with the QLA or freeebore. I found with the sabotless I take and start them at home and in the fiels they will not present a problem in the field. Still more testing to follow with My Savage smoke less. In my bore it takes an arm and a leg to seat a bullet to the powder, so this should be a real test for the spin jag. More to follow. One thing after finally ffinished with the test should I return it to the sender? If this be the case I am so please with it I woulddn't hesitate to buy my own. Lou

I also reviewed this vidio and agree that there is a lot of valuable information on it. It is really a good video for people relatively new to the muzzleloading world. I let a couple of my hunting buddies view it. I can say that I wholeheartedly agree with a lot of his findings and believe that thier findings would save the average Joe a lot of money and time getting loads for a muzzleloader. Anyone interested in viewing this video can send me a PM.

My spin jag certainly works better than a fixed jag.........but it doesn't 'spin' very well and will come unscrewed from the rod after 1-2 tries.....from the rifling.....same as a regular jag. It lasts maybe twice as long as a regular jag, so it's ok. It works. Not whining, it just appears mine doesn't do as well as others that seem to love this. Great concept, though.........

Buckrub.........mine did the very same thing when I first got it. There is a little white washer that needs to be installed between the jag and the spinning mechanism. If it is not installed the jag could back away from the threads. The little white washer is lightly glued to the packing which has a white background and is easy to miss. I relayed this problem to the manufacturer and he is working on it. You can contact these folks to get a replacement washer but I think I would just find any really small washer that would work. www.maxmuzzleloader.com/productsAccessories.html
