Watched deer all summer with a spotting scope off of my back deck. They were covered with ticks especially right between the antlers where they could not scratch with out hurting their velvet. Then the horse flies and deer flies had them going nuts. Killed a mature 10 point during November rut and he had lice!..... My question is do you suppose deer would utilize a manmade cattle insecticide type rub or would the chemical odor be too offensive ? Wayles

Deer are not dumb. If they get pestered enough they might use the same. Worth trying. I think I might be a deer parasite, I like to prey on them when I can.

I guess I would let the deer get by as they always have for decades and not expose them to any more chemical exposures than they already have via aerial insecticide spraying and food contamination with herbicides. Even thought the rub on type of pesticide would seem harmless there would almost assuredly be some absorption.
