Nailed this Wyoming Elk on Tuesday. *180 yard shot *Used the 310gr APB *Went 20 yards before piling up *Didn't gut it, but looking at entrance and exit appears to be solid double lung with maybe a bit of heart Wasn't quite as big as I hoped for, but should still break 300". And the hunt was the experience of the lifetime! Feeling fortunate to have gotten one before the weather turned bad. I rode out of the mountains yesterday, but don't know when I'll get to leave since most of Wyoming is shut down with a blizzard. More details to follow....

Got a phone call mid post and forgot to ask.
I assume this was a guided hunt? What did the guide think of your "ML" set up?

He appears to be a 6X7, right? Pretty darned nice elk from this point of view!! WHAT is that look on your face? Looks like you're cutting rubber buggy washers! Is there a bit of weight you're holding up there?

Congrats Luke. Looks like a dandy elk to me. I've been buying points in Wy and am looking forward to a trip back out there in a few years for elk.

Congratulations. I had been waiting to hear how your hunt went. I got out of Wyoming ,after shooting my mule deer, just ahead of the storm. Packed off the mountain in a blizzard thou. Looks like a great bull. What outfit did you hunt with?

Nice bull, nice pix and good story. Save a big hunk of that meat and I'll cook it at the rondy next September. Not only fun hunt but good eating, way better than whitetail IMO. And if you aren't going to put that rack on the wall, too small, I can use some antler slabs for knife handles, LOL!
PS: Do a European skull type mount, I think they are neat and don't take so much $ or room.
