What is your best 308 load with all bullets. So bullet and load and where it groups best in yards. Looking mostly for the 150gr and the 168gr. But willing to try them all for fun.

IMR 3031 and a Sierra 168gr BTHP match is the old standby accuracy load for HighPower shooters.

150 BT and a stiff load of varget, shoots great in the 3 that I load for, amount of varget varies as much as 2 grains between the 3 guns so I'll say start with a book load and watch for pressure signs and accuracy.

Remington Model 7 SS .308 just loves 43.5 gr. of H-4895 with the 168 gr. Sierra Gameking.............it actually seems to shoot better than the 168 MK! Richard

I have a Remington Model 7 with a Leupold 2.5-8 that I use Winchester Brass , Winchester Large Rifle Primer , 47.0grs. of IMR 4064 , topped off with a Nosler 150gr. Balistic Tip . I know it is a hot load as the velocity is over 2800f.p.s. and the case is just about full but it shoots about 3/4" to 1" at 100yds. Five bucks and two does have been taken between 100yds. and 240yds. and none have gone more than 40yds.

There are so many powders that work well in the 308. I would have to say that IMR 4064,Imr 4895,and varget are my favorite powders and so far the CFE powder has shot some very good groups at 300 yds with the 165 sie BTHP. Just to name a few more that has been very good are R-15,A2230 and 8208. The 4064 using 42.5 grs my buddie Bill and I went up to a 1000yd range and after I got my tikka 308 sighted in we busted 5 clay birds in a row,I busted 3,gave the rifle to him and he busted 2 more. In my savage f/tr I mostly shoot target loads in it.It has shot bullets from 110gr to 185 gr very well. with 150 and 168 gr loads you may want to try some of these. Tika: Savage:

Last tuesday I decided to set up my tikka using GFE powder and siera 165BTHP in case I wanted to hunt with it this year. These bullets shoot like target bullets but are tuff. At 100 yds 3 shots went into one little hole.I use a springfield 308 scope on the tikka. Zeroed at 200 yds it is dead on up to 1000 yds. I didn't shoot but 2 shots at 200 and 300,they were dead on and I didn't measure them but at 200 looked like 3/4 in and at 300 a tad less than an inch. Don't remember the exact speed but think it was right around 2700fps. Should make a great deer load.
