I see that browning has changed the twist rate of their 20 ga. shotguns it is now 1:35. Anybody know why they did this?

Not sure what it used to be, I had a BPS 12 and can't even remember what it was. I wouldn't sweat it too much, it may be a good thing. My old DSIII is 1:35 and it shoots incredible, maybe there was something to that twist rate and Browning has been testing and discovered that this twist rate works well with today's ammo offerings. Not really sure, but surely they wouldn't have switched to it unless they have tested and think its a good thing. Be interesting to hear about in the future and some old/new BPS shooting comparisons.

Just wondering since their 12 ga.'s are 1:28 and I thought their 20's were too. Its odd the new Ithaca's aew 1:24. Those seem to work well.

Yeah not sure why the switch's either. I would like to have a new DSIII to compare to the old, hopefully Browning shooters will benefit from the change they made as well.

I'm looking to pick up the new Micro Midas BPS Deer model for my wife. I guess we'll see how well the new twist works. My 12 ga. Deerslayer 1:28 is real accurate with the Winchester Dual Bonds. I have been hoping to find the new one from Hornady somewhere on store shelves but no luck so far.

Good luck. Let us know how it shoots if ya get it. I may try the new Hornady's as well if I ever have a chance to get any.

:)24&28 twist is optimal for fast slugs in 20g. I dont know why they would do this. I think this new twist will work with the slower lead slug sabots. Thats a bummer
