I got a pretty nice 8-point during our early ML season and since we only get 2 buck tags I was holding out for something better. Well yesterday evening about 4:45 I spotted this one's head, he was behind some brush and checking the small field to make sure it was safe to come on in. The small field is grown up and has an old apple tree at the far end. The deer was coming into the apple tree and when he finally made his move from behind the brush I sent a 180 grain Speer Mag Tip from my 30-06 through his neck. He dropped on the spot. My rifle is an old 1968 vintage Browning BAR and is a deer killing machine, I love this old rifle. I hung the buck in the shed last night to chill out and now I've got to get off of here and go skin him out cut all the meat off the bone and put him in the Ball & Mason jars. ;D GOOD SHOOTING! Congrats! Love the old BAR's...Dad had a late 60's in 30-06 too. He sold it a few years ago and still regrets it.

Nice buck and nice rifle. My pal had a BAR in 338 that was amazingly accurate.

Nice buck. The BAR of that era was/is special to a friend. Thanks for the story...and memories.
