Well I tried to post a few pics of my last day of rifle season five point buck and it wouldn't let me saying my file was to large and I even tried with one pic and and it sill wouldn't but here is the story anyway. I was waiting for his big daddy but I didn't want to go home empty handed on the last day. I posted up sitting on a stump at the foot of a heavily wooded ridge in a clump of jack furs with a big cedar swamp in front of me for over two weeks. In the mornings the deer came out of the swamp and climbed the ridge and went back in the swamp at dusk or dark. In the afternoon I switched my seat to my hand made blind of spruce bows and such that was in the swamp. On the morning of Nov.24 this buck did just the reverse and came in from the ridge behind me I could hear him coming for fifteen minutes or more and then I heard him breathing right behind me. My heart was racing and I felt like I was going to have a heart attack! I said self control your breathing because if I could hear him he might hear me and I knew not to move a muscle until he got by me. At this point I didn't even look at him yet because he was only a few feet away then I heard him drink from a puddle that was just about four or five feet away and I looked down at his head and saw the horns and he turned to my and his left and started walking away into a little clearing. At that point I didn't think it was very sporting to shoot him in the back so I waited till he got about thirty yards out and he turned broad side to take his trail. At that point I still had my rifle in my lap and tried the old silent pull the hammer back while holding the trigger but my dang BLR.358 with that pivoting hammer head made a click and he spotted me, I pulled up fast and bang! I put the lead right where I wanted it. Poor fella only made it about twenty five yards but considering where he was headed I was grateful. Judging by his teeth he was only about a year and a half old and at 140lbs dressed out and the size of his legs and hooves he would have been a monster in a year or two.
