Guys the last few weeks I have noticed the Board running slower than used to. I keep getting "Timed Out". Takes forever to load pages. Is there a problem with the hosting service.

It's seems to be working fine when I'm looking around at things here and that's every evening.

Yeah, running as fast as ever right now for me. But now that you mention it, a couple of weeks ago it was being kind of a dog for me.

For several days now I get this message. No problems noticed with any other forums or websites. No virus etc. " The connection has timed out.
The server at dougsmessageboards.proboards.com is taking too long to respond.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
Try Again"I use multiple ISP's and doesn't seem to matter which.

AHH! the Forum where all threads are moved to die! A grand total of 275 posts vs the big old main board where 73,000+ posts. Never mind that the server is throttling band width and we are low on the priority list.
Of course I guess our hosting service is worth about what we pay for it. Was just wondering if any one else was tired of the board being SLOW>
Ignore that the host is absorbing us with adwares and saturating us with tracking cookies with all the advertisers.
And then just when I hit the reply button the server times out once again.

Savage Shooter.
Your post had nothing to do with smokeless.
It was also left there long enough for many, many people to see it and respond. ALSO, people have seen it and responded to it AFTER it was moved.
ALSO...there is STILL a topic in the Savage section...taking up space on the 1st page (where it doesn't belong) showing what you labeled your topic...AND when you go into the topic, it tells you where the topic went.
Not sure why you would belly-ache about that???

Not sure why you would belly-ache about that??? My "belly-aching" was pointed at the poor service the hosting service is giving us. I see the same speed issues with multiple browsers. The hosting company is throttling us and thought just maybe some of you that are not only entrusted to chastise us but also to "serve" the board might look into it and see if there was anything that could be done or if we just have to live with it. I know hosting costs unless you allow them to do whatever they want, that is the price you pay for "free". There are members here that would probably be capable and willing to donate for better more private hosting. But you didn't ask that while taking the time to straighten me out. I understand moving the thread and knew that someone would. We are not a big forum, but we are about the only game in town for smokeless and just thought we might prefer to be first class. I stand duly reprimanded and understand why; do you understand why I would put myself in that position knowing/expecting this is how it would be handled?

SS,
Admin and moderation....2 different responsibilities. Wasn't reprimanding or chastising you. You said "Ahhh, where all threads are moved to die". That was Rhetorical IMO and implied that you thought it should have been left where it was and that I did something wrong. I just called you out on it, that's all.
1) it wasn't an effort to kill the thread 2) It is still alive
Just because a forum gets lot's of traffic doesn't mean people should be encouraged to post ANYTHING there. If that were the norm, we should just have one forum. Just like a recipe of venison, harvested by a smokeless ML doesn't belong there. Can we agree?
Your concerns and issues are valid and deserve being addressed, heard and commented on. And they have been.
Don't take offense....just doing my job

I visited the proboards support site and did a MTR test and posted the results for their staff to look at and below is their response.
Strange part was that I see the same slow down on their support page as well as all proboard sites I visit.
Hi,
The forum is loading quickly for me, but I do notice that you are using a few remotely hosted codes that can affect the page loading of your forum. Such codes include:
<!--[if lt IE 7]> <script defer type="text/javascript" src="http://pb.wrighty.info/pngfix.js"></script> <![endif]-->
found in your global header, as well as the "UnChain Your Mini-Profile by UnChained" and "Facebook Style Like/Dislike System v1.2" codes found in your global footer. Any time one of these remotely hosted services experiences slow loading or goes down, it will affect the loading of your forum. I've personally seen many reports of this issue for forum admins that also used the Facebook Style Like/ Dislike system on their forum, and had noted an improvement when that code was removed.
With that noted, if you periodically experience slow loading at your forum, temporarily remove the Facebook Style Like/Dislike System v1.2 code from your global footer and see if that makes a difference for you
