While shooting my x bow today I tried some 2219 easton arrows with 165gr thunderheads and they flew terrible. I also shot my pro elite carbons with the same head and they have always shot great. The pro elites also have the brass inserts which I think are 110gr in weight. The fletchings are identical on all arrows. Will heavier inserts correct the problem with the aluminum arrows? Thanks in advance.

What is your FOC? X-bow arrows require more FOC . Usually 18 does well. I haven't had much success with Thunderheads on x-bow arrows. VERY important to index fixed blade broadheads(usually 60,180,240 - 1 blade down, and on 4 blade models - 30,120,210,300). These orientations seem to do best for me. I am thoroughly convinced that x-bow arrows perform best with expandibles, especially faster models. Even the expandible BHs need indexed; and no, they don't fly just like field points. Even the Spitfire and Rage practice points(though close) don't fly exactly like the real points. I use the FOC (170g 2 blade, 3" spitfire) and make practice heads by epoxying(#3500) the blades in and same with the 3 blade Spitfires. To me, the fixed blades just steer too much, especially with x-bow arrows. I'm not exactly new to using and experimenting with both fixed and expandibles(shot first deer with a bow in 1957, definitely a fixed 2 blade, and in early 80's shot the 1st expandibles(Pucketts-killed deer but left a lot to be desired). Personal opinion - the FOC flies the best and is unbelievably deadly. Out of my SZ 380, I shot a deer that field dressed #212 at appx 38 yds and it fell dead(DRT) and last Fri shot a doe at a much greater distance(ethical, IMO) and it fell dead(DRT). I've only shot 2 deer with the FOC and both fell dead. In 55 years of archery deer hunting, I've only had 3 deer fall dead with arrows/ broadhead - the last 2 shot and a 161 5/8" deer shot with a 2213/75g Wasp shot out of a Darton Impulse/Ballistic Mariage cams, 57# - 33 yds in 1990. If FOC is less than 16, I expect that is your main problem.
