I see no mention of leveractions in this forum !
Whats up with that ?
There have been some MAJOR strides made in the last few years with lever action ammo and guns !
I can honestly say I have tried all of the newer version Marlin's with the stainless and laminated stocks ! Anything from the 30-30 to the 450 Marlin with the new 308 and 338 Marlin Express rifles thrown in for good measure !
I've also killed deer or tried on paper all of the Hornady Leverevolution ammo ! And I gotta say for the man who doesn't want to reload Marlin/Hornady came up with a winner in these rifles and ammo combination !
I'vce killed deer with the 336XLR in 30-30 and 35 REM using the Hornady rubber tipped ammo .
Killed deer with the 1895MXLR (450 Marlin) using the Hornady ammo . Also the 308MXLR ! And all the deer with the above mentioned rounds and shooting the rubber tipped stuff hit the ground wiothin steps of where they were shot !
With the 1895XLR and 444XLR I've killed deer with my handloads and have fired the rubber tipped stuff on paper with excellent results .
This is the 444XLR with an 8 point I killed in the 2006 season . Was shooting handloaded Hornady 265's .
This a 4 point I also killed in the 2006 season with the 1895XLR and a handloaded Barnes 300 grain "Original" bullet .
This was the first deer I ever killed with any of the Marlin XLR rifles and also the first deer I ever used Hornady's Leverevolution ammo on ! Used a 336XLR in 30-30 thisd time!
A pair of slicks I took in the 2007 season with the 1895MXLR and the Hornady rubber tipped 450 Marlin ammo !
Another slick I took in 2007 with the 336XLR 35 REM and the Hornady ammo .
A slick and the "Wold's Record" smallest spike I took in 2007 with the 308MXLR and the Hornady rubber tipped ammo .
Hopefully next year I can add the 338MXLR to the equation and also go back with the 444XLR and 1895XLR and use the Hornady stuff to take atleast a deer apiece .
So anyway I don't see mention of lever gubns here anywhere , so for what it's worth they shoot alot better then one might believe !
And after this please do not think I don't hunt with bolt actions , because I do and Ruger #1's
