I'm deeply saddened to pass long that my father-in law, Ben Boyd Jr (Ozark) has passed away. He passed on peacefully in his sleep at 3:55am, August 7th, 2012. I know he enjoyed the friendly day-to-day talks and banter between the members of this forum. This forum and interaction with you all definitely extended his life and enjoyment by several years. We read to him the last posts each day. He asked me if I thought the members had ever learned anything his posts. I told him, I was sure they had. He seemed happy to hear that. He wanted me to tell everyone good-bye and treat each other with respect and tolerance, no matter what the topic.
Ben Jr, Teresa, Bobbi, Pat and the rest of his family deeply appreciate the time you spent with him. Love each other and shoot well...... I know i will be practicing what he taught me.
Bobbi

Via Ozarxoffspring: Daddy (Ozark) voiced his concerns to me more than once that he feared he would finally become too much burden to his family and consequently be put in a nursing home. He said Mom (Ozark Angel) was the first shift of his care and she had handed the torch to me to carry on her "shift" with him. I assured him that I was honored to be clocking in and promised him that if it were within my control at all, even the most remote control, that my shift would be the one that was which would walk with him to the great beyond to once again join hands with his one and only love, my mother. He reminded me of this on several occasions when the day was rough and the night was sleepless. Many, many times I, sometimes rather strongly, told him that no matter what the circumstance, short of my own passing, I was NOT clocking out before my promise was carried through to its fruition. With this he shot me a quick wink and the mennacing smirk like that of a Dennis the Mennace-type little boy. My heart melted every time. And so, not because of any promise I made to him, rather a selfish need of mine to be as close to him as possible, he took his last breath with me holding his hand with one hand of mine, the other running my fingers through his hair of silver. My husband at my side, I was positioned between the only people in this world who ever made me feel I was enough, worthy, and truly special. I will do my utmost to carry out the lessons Daddy has taught me throughout my life; love people, warts and all, for I do not know their story, their hurts, their journey. One not need to love their actions at times, but be slow to judge and to anger, and quick to come alongside them and do my best to meet the needs they themselves may have no knowledge of. Quite simply, love, to include loving myself.
With that, let me tell you all that you met so many of Daddy's needs. You were oftentimes his lifeline, his connection with the outside world as his health worsened and no longer allowed him to leave his home. For that, I offer you my heart-felt thank you. He has joined Mom now, but his words live on forever.
Forever in your debt, Teresa

Just a day of heartbreak for me yesterday. Learning of Ben's passing and then my dad's later in the afternoon. As much as you prepare for it it's still a blow. All I can share is a poem I hold dear to my heart,
Ascension
And if I go, while you're still here... Know that I live on, vibrating to a different measure --behind a thin veil you cannot see through. You will not see me, so you must have faith. I wait for the time when we can soar together again, --both aware of each other. Until then, live your life to its fullest. And when you need me, Just whisper my name in your heart, ...I will be there.
And the circle continues,,,,,
(And if any of you guys spread it around I read poetry I'll hunt you down and skin you alive.)

Rossman40 I wish to offer you and your family my deepest condolences on the loss of your father. With death there is always pain and sorrow felt over a loss. But sometimes poetry with some simple wording can help add comfort to those that remain. Ed
