My ugly beast has been taped since I got it and I'm not sure I know the answer to your question. It does shoot fairly well when fed right.
But you are in luck Danno.....you have a crap load of benchmark loads. Once you tape and shoot, you'll know the answer.
By the way, cloth tape rules over the camo duct tape out there. It won't fade nearly as bad. So good choice there.

I have seen 1 MOA change in POI on a CF gun after putting tape on a barrel. Now, if I want to camo it I use spray paint.

Why not try camo dipping it?? It might cost a little more but your set up would look way better and you could choose the camo you want. Just a thought.

I think that dipping it would be better than tape once the barrel gets warm the tape will just get guuwee. And not stay where you want it slide around some. So dipping it or painting it would be better than tape I would think. IMO.

For looks I agree on the painting or dipping. At the bench I shoot at, I like to lean the barrel against it when I reload. The tape offers some real protection for that.
