Last week I received a MLII in two pieces packed in a long square box. The barreled action and the stock were each bubble wrapped and the remainder of the voids in the box were stuffed with balled up newspapers. So, when I went to UPS today to send it back, I had it repacked as I received it. In talking with the UPS store owner (they were not busy) he asked if the contents were well packed? I said they were and described the above. I had told him the contents were "muzzle loading gun parts" (NO problem there) As a matter of fact, he said that whenever shipping a gun, describe it as "GUN PARTS!" But, he said I was wasting money on insuring it since UPS does not make good on damage claims if the items are packed with NEWSPAPERS! He proceeded to show me a copy of their regulations. He said he could take my box and wrap it in foam and put it in a new box and it would be covered ($8.00). Not wanting to ship the gun uninsured, I went for the extra money rather than go home and repack it myself. This was the first time I had heard about the newspaper thing. Richard

My local UPS store refuses to ship anything with the word gun in it and I have been unsuccessfull in changing their mind. They will not even ship gun parts.
So, USPS gets all of my shipments.

I guess we could just label them "adult toys".
