With hunting season gone and unseasonsbly warm weather in central Virginia (and lots of other places) I decided to take today (Friday 2/10/12) off and see if the pre-spawn bass are "gorging" yet. I put my kayak in the water at about 6:30AM and was at my hunnyhole and fishing by 7:00AM. I got "hits" on 3 of my first 4 casts then nothing for almost an hour. I finally caught a 22" bass (that's a citation size in Virginia) on a black chatterbait. Later I caught a pickerel and then nothing. All in all, it was a good morning. Can't wait to go back. Glad to see some one is still fishing I'm not a fisherman any more but really enjoy the reading. I remember the fun and the relaxation I enjoyed.

Season for Bass is closed here. I did find some real nice smallies under the ice. They take a minnow and jig. Sonar return not much bigger than a crappie. They know how to pull, they don't jump much in the winter around here.
