I just got a Thompson center cougar, and I would like to know when they were made.I know they were a limited edition. I already own a 50 cal. T/C Renegade and a 54 cal. T/C Hawken Do these cougars also have a 1-48 twist? thanks in advance for all your help. ;D

you can check the twist your self. get your cleaning jag and put snug fitting patch and mark your ramrod/cleaning rod and see how far it goes around when you push it down. if you have a 24 inch barrel and the mark on the rod and barrel are across from each other or half way around it is a 1:48

My Cougar has a round ball twist about 1 in 60

This is only from memory, I thought I got mine in the later 80's but I could be off 5 years either way. They had nice stocks on them.

I have never had a Cougar, buy my hunting buddy had a 45 cal Cougar that he hunted with along with me about 25 years ago. A beautiful gun. His shot the T/C Maxi Ball well. I still have several older T/C Hawkens and Renegades myself, but haven't shot any of them for several years. Killed a lot of deer with them back before the in-line was developed.
